WHO IS BAPA?

BAPA was a family man and a businessman. A legend that will live on forever in our memories. He was our grandfather who instilled a plethora of keen values in our family. This market is dedicated to him, in honor of his inherent good nature, his belief in giving back to ones community and his unwavering belief that family matters most. Fun fact, gardening brought great joy to BAPA. One of my earliest memories with him is enjoying home grown tomatoes right off the vine in his back yard garden.

Owner

Hi! My name is Ashley Juhl-Darlington (Williams), and I am the owner of BAPA's Market, an independent natural food store that provides all your grocery essentials, as well as gifts, flowers, beer and wine located in Meriam Park, Chico, CA. Think of it as your neighborhood Bodega.

I am a Chico local. I grew up with my older sister, Jennifer, and my parents, Roger and Nancy Williams. My father was the longest-standing principal at Chico High, and my mother was a professor at Chico State. I am a proud Chico High graduate. I am proudly married to Matt Juhl-Darlington, we have five wonderful children who keep us on our toes. They range in ages from 21-15; Dylan, Bryce, Dax, Tatum and Finn.

I hold a Master's Degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in healthcare administration from California State University, Chico. I have worked in the healthcare industry in various positions (being a Midwife was my most favorite pathway) for nearly 30 years. It has always been my dream to be my own boss and open a business that benefits the community. For me, BAPA's is healthcare reimagined. I am inspired by our community's abundance of farming, artists, talent, and access to sustainable goods.

BAPA was my maternal grandfather. He was an attorney, an FBI agent, and an astute businessman. He valued people, their personal journey, and how he could help. He was honest, kind, loving, quick-witted, quiet, yet fierce in how he lived his life. The market is named after him because of the keen values he instilled in our family, and his unwavering drive as a family man and a businessman.

I am honored and humbled to be a part of our thriving community.
